Mansfield Park

by Jane Austen

Mansfield Park

Mansfield Park is Jane Austen’s third novel and was first published in 1814. The novel’s main character, Fanny Price, comes to Mansfield Park as a child to live with her wealthy relatives Sir Thomas Bertram and his wife because her own family is poor. As time goes on, Fanny demonstrates the virtues that made her Austen’s favorite character, modesty, firm principles, and love.
Mansfield Park is considered the most complex and the darkest of Austen’s novels as it explores issues such as slavery and women’s education.
